The Full Story is inspired by an iconic distortion/fuzz pedal known for its massive gain and infinite sustain. After a first limited edition pedal that retraced the history of this legendary fuzz through 7 historical versions, we decided to expand the range with new formats. This new Anasounds Full Story is still based on the concept of Tone Cards, small electronic cards that can be interchanged inside the pedal and allow to entirely modify the pedal’s circuit. But this time with new Tone Cards, designed according to our own vision of this famous pedal.
In this Anasounds Full Story User Guide, you’ll discover all the possibilities of your new pedal, so you can use it at its full potential.
the tone cards
The Anasounds Full Story comes with two new Tone Cards, based on two versions modified by our team. But for even more possibilities, the 7 Tone Cards of the collector’s edition are still available, as well as new Tone Cards created in collaboration with other brands.
main fuzz
A circuit based on the first blue and grey Russian version of the famous fuzz, from the early 90’s with a creamy sound close to an overdrive. Our version is more scooped in the midrange for a more aggressive tone, with a less defined and deeper bass, without affecting the highs. The mid switch allows you to transform the sound of this circuit by bringing back a large amount of mids, perfect for leads with a totally different character.
secondary fuzz
Based on the first version of the pedal released in 1969, this model is known for providing a thick and deep sound with huge bass. We’ve created a version with less bass, bringing back some midrange for more precision while playing. The midrange can be pushed even more with the mid switch.
other tone cards
All other Tone Cards available separately are also compatible with the Anasounds Full Story. There are 7 Tone Cards from the collector’s edition, and other new ones, including collaborations between our team and other effects manufacturers.
Rediscover the Battersea and Pulse from ALH Effects, and even the Piggy, the brand’s never-released prototype, in a new format compatible with the Full Story. Or an original creation by Tampco, with a unique sound that reaches vintage gated fuzz tones.
Changing the Tone Cards is easy. Using a Phillips screwdriver, open the enclosure by removing the 4 screws. Then inside the pedal, remove the screw that holds the Tone Cards. Then remove the Tone Cards by moving them up and down. Next, insert the new Tone Cards, paying attention to the location of the connectors. Finally, replace the screw that holds the Tone Cards. If it doesn’t go through, the connectors of the Tone Cards are not well aligned.
the settings
jacks
IN and OUT jacks: input and output of the pedal, connect mono jacks only. Power supply: Use only a 9V DC negative center power supply. Max consumption 124mA.
channel 1 and 2
footswitches
The right footswitch activates the card inserted in the Main Fuzz slot. It is associated with the three transparent knobs Out, Fuzz and Tone and the illuminated Anasounds logo. The left footswitch activates the Secondary Fuzz card, associated with the 3 small illuminated knobs Out, Fuzz and Tone.
out
The output volume of the effect. Allows you to set it to a unity volume, or above to boost the output and overload the input of the amp.
tone
The tone control. Turn to the left to cut the highs and get a fat, heavy sound, or to the right to cut the bass and get a bright sound. The range and frequencies affected depend on the card inserted.
fuzz
The gain control. Turn to the left for a dirty and fuzzy overdrive, or to the right for massive gain and huge sustain.
toggle switch
One mid switch per channel, for two different midrange responses. Switch down to add more midrange and get more presence, or up to get the original character of the Tone Cards. The right switch acts on the Main Fuzz card, and the left switch on the Secondary Fuzz card.
signal path
Unlike other fuzzes, the Full Story can be placed anywhere in the signal chain. Its tone between distortion and fuzz allows it to be placed at the end of the chain, just before going into the amp. Boost or overdrive pedals will boost and shape the signal before going into the pedal, while Amp in a Box pedals will act as a cranked amp.
our favorite settings
Some recommended settings to start with the Full Story. Feel free to experiment, use other Tone Cards, and share your results on social networks!
Lead fuzz : mid boosted fuzz setting, for clear lead tones and solos with a great spot in the mix. Massive rhythmics fuzz : mid scooped setting, with powerful lows for huge rhythmics and fat stoner riffs.
