The Full Story is inspired by an iconic distortion/fuzz pedal known for its massive gain and infinite sustain. After a first limited edition pedal that retraced the history of this legendary fuzz through 7 historical versions, we decided to expand the range with new formats. The Full Story is now available in an FX Teacher variant, becoming the most versatile and customizable version of the range. Inside, a unique Tone Cards, based on the most popular disto / fuzz model, redesigned by our team. But don’t worry, all other Tone Cards remain available and are compatible with this FX Teacher version. With also new Tone Cards just released.
In this FX Teacher Full Story User Guide, you’ll discover all the possibilities of your new pedal, so you can use it at its full potential.
the tone cards
The Full Story FX Teacher comes with a unique Tone Card, based on the most popular distortion/fuzz model. But to extend the possibilities of the pedal even more, the 7 Tone Cards from the collector’s edition are still available, as well as new cards created by our team for this new Full Story range, or in collaboration with other brands.
fx teacher tone cards
The Tone Cards included in the FX Teacher Full Story is based on the most popular and modern version of the fuzz. The circuit has been slightly revised to work in the best possible way with all the clipping and voicing parameters of the FX Teacher model. So this version offers a whole range of sounds by adjusting the midrange and compression.
other tone cards
All other Tone Cards available separately are also compatible with the Anasounds Full Story. There are 7 Tone Cards from the collector’s edition, and other new ones, including collaborations between our team and other effects manufacturers.
Rediscover the Battersea and Pulse from ALH Effects, and even the Piggy, the brand’s never-released prototype, in a new format compatible with the Full Story. Or an original creation by Tampco, with a unique sound that reaches vintage gated fuzz tones.
Changing the Tone Cards is easy. Using a Phillips screwdriver, open the enclosure by removing the 4 screws. Then inside the pedal, remove the screw that holds the Tone Cards. Then remove the Tone Cards by moving them up and down. Next, insert the new Tone Cards, paying attention to the location of the connectors. Finally, replace the screw that holds the Tone Cards. If it doesn’t go through, the connectors of the Tone Cards are not well aligned.
the settings of the fx teacher full story
external controls
On the outside, there are the three classic settings Out, Tone and Fuzz of the Full Story. The FX Teacher version adds new features, with a mid control for different voicings to find the best spot in the mix, and a clipping control for different compressions.
jacks
IN and OUT jacks: input and output of the pedal, connect mono jacks only. Power supply: Use only a 9V DC negative center power supply. Max consumption 8mA.
fuzz :
The gain level of the fuzz. To go from a soft and crunchy fuzz, to a massive and sustaining fuzz.
out :
The output volume of the pedal. To fine-tune the output level, or boost the signal to hit the preamp of your amplifier.
tone :
Adjusts the tone of the pedal, mixing a high-pass filter and a low-pass filter. Turn counterclockwise to cut the highs, or clockwise to cut the lows. Set to noon for a rich, massive fuzz with a wide spectrum.
mid :
Allows to add more mids to the original tone circuit. At the middle position, the scooped sound of the original circuit. On the upper position, a more present midrange, changing the character of the pedal, close to a distortion. On the bottom position, a custom setting allowing to fine tune the midrange with a set of supplied capacitors, to be screwed on a terminal block inside the pedal. See the following explanations to change the capacitor easily.
clip :
Allows to change the clipping of the pedal, for different kinds of compression. At the middle position, a circuit with no clipping, for a wide fuzz with a slight tube amp SAG feeling. On the upper position, 1N914 diodes, for the original clipping of the pedal that inspired the Full Story. On the bottom position, a custom clipping allowing to test and compare different diodes, with different cards included that can be inserted in the screw terminal inside the pedal. See the following explanations to change the clipping card easily.
internal controls
Inside the Full Story, you will find, in addition to the Tone Cards, the two terminals allowing you to manipulate the midrange and clipping.
caps :
The terminal block that allows you to screw the additional capacitors, supplied with the pedal. For custom mid frequencies on the bottom position of the Mid switch. To read the values, it’s simple, the first 3 characters indicate the value, for example 4n7J100 = 4.7nF (nano Farads). The higher the value is, the more the capacitor will boost the mid frequencies.
The capacitors, from the one that offers the deepest midrange, to the one that boosts the midrange the most: 2.7nF, 3.9nF, 4.7nF and 10nF.
By default, the 3.9nF capa is already inserted in the pedal, for a scooped midrange and aggressive fuzz. The 2.7nF capa will cut the midrange even more, offering a more pleasing sound and less presence in the mix. The 4.7nF capa will bring back more presence, for powerful and more modern riffs with a great spot in the mix. Finally, the 10nF capa is ideal for defined and punchy leads.
2,7nF3,9nF4,7nF10nFswitch in high position: 22nFthe evolution of the midrange of the full story according to the capacitor inserted in the terminal block.
diodes :
The terminal block that allows to screw in the clipping cards, included with the pedal. To change the compression and dynamics of the fuzz. You can choose between red LEDs, for a wider and modern sound with a large and rich spectrum, or an asymmetric clipping with a 2N7000 mosfet transistor, offering a compromise between the original clipping and the LEDs.
The 2 clipping cards, on the left a 2N7000 mosfet, on the right two red LEDs.
signal path
Unlike other fuzzes, the Full Story can be placed anywhere in the signal chain. Its tone between distortion and fuzz allows it to be placed at the end of the chain, just before going into the amp. Boost or overdrive pedals will boost and shape the signal before going into the pedal, while Amp in a Box pedals will act as a cranked amp.
our favorite settings
Some recommended settings to start with the Full Story. Feel free to experiment, use other Tone Cards, and share your results on social networks!
On the left: a fat and glitchy fuzz with a SAG effect, perfect for garage rock tones. On the right: a more open fuzz with LED clipping and boosted midrange, close to a distortion for accurate and powerful riffs and leads.
