a pedal with many facets
Back in 1969, in New York City, a fuzz / distortion pedal was born and it immediately became the gold standard for any musician looking for the fattest possible sound.
Whether you’re a guitarist, bass player, or even keyboard player, one of those fuzz is enough to get a huge gain-laden distortion with a compressed tone and scooped mids.
It works for super fat rhythms and infinite-sustain solos.
Through half-a-century of existence, that pedal has been through many versions with varying circuits and sounds.
Each one of us has an ideal circuit in mind, and there are some existing pedals that offer a selection of different versions. But everything we’ve tried so fat has left us with the bitter taste of an unfinished process.
As soon as we tried to compare those “multi-fuzz” pedals with the few vintage pieces we’ve managed to borrow from collector friends, the verdict was final.
We’ve had to develop our own concept, and this is how the Full Story came to be. It tells the full story of this fabulous pedal like you’ve never played it through seven different versions.
In order to get the actual sound of each version without any compromise, we have come up with the Tone Cards, little circuits that can be installed inside the Full Story
and allow you to get the original vintage sound without sacrificing any part of your tone.
collector’s edition
The limited edition offers two Tone Cards spots, plus a booster that only exists for that version, a germanium vintage circuit that can go from a full range booster to a treble booster. It sports a volume knob, but also a filter that allows you to cut out the bass frequencies, and a guitar pickup simulation circuit in order to put the pedal whereever you need in your signal chain without getting a bad reaction from the booster. What’s more, the limited edition offers the seven Tone Cards in a luxurious boxset, which is actually a cheaper solution than buying them all separately.
anasounds
The regular Anasounds version has two Tone Cards spots without the booster. There are two footswitches with three independent settings for each circuit, and a Mid switch for each circuit to boost the mediums that are usually very scooped with that distortion.
Inside the pedal, two new Tone Cards developed by our team, and designed to be complementary, perfect for both rhythm and leads.
fx teacher
Finally, the FX Teacher version takes that Mid switch and adds a Clip switch to choose your kind of saturation, but it only has one spot for a Tone Card, which is ideal if you only play one version at a time. You can still change it around in between shows since the Tone Cards can be bought separately.
Inside the pedal, a Tone Cards designed to be as versatile as possible, developed as if it had been the only Tone Cards available.
Like any FX Teacher pedal, the Full Story is available as a DIY kit or as a pre-assembled unit.
anasounds version
The Anasounds version has two slots without booster. There are the two footswitches with the three independent settings for each circuit, and a Mid switch per circuit to boost the midrange which is usually scooped on this effect.
Inside the pedal, two new Tone Cards developed by our team, and designed to be complementary, perfect for rhythmic and lead sounds.

The FX Teacher version takes the Mid switch and adds a Clip switch to choose the kind of saturation, but it has only one Tone Card slot, ideal if you only use one version, even if you have to change version between two gigs since the Tone Cards can be bought separately.
Inside the pedal, a Tone Cards designed to be as versatile as possible, developed as if it had been the only Tone Cards available.
Like all FX Teacher pedals, the Full Story is available as a do-it-yourself kit or as an already assembled version.
a never-ending story
While recreating the exact original sounds with the 7 Tone Cards of the collector’s edition, we were frustrated by the limitations of the sound and the settings imposed by these vintage models.
So we wanted to push the limits and go further in terms of customization, with more and more Tone Cards, new settings to reveal the full potential of the circuit, and more possibilities.
two channels, more possibilities
We know you will want to switch versions without having to open the pedal, which is why the Anasounds Full Story has two spots to insert your Tone Cards. This allows you to get two fully independent channels, each with its own settings and footswitch, allowing to take full advantage of the mid switch.
The right footswitch activates the card in the Main Fuzz spot, with the three transparent knobs and the Anasounds logo, while the left footswitch activates the Secondary Fuzz card,
controlled by three smaller back-lit knobs.
You may also stack them in series for even more sounds and possibilities!
a fuzz with mids
A new feature that we thought was essential on this circuit, a switch allowing to add midrange, very scooped on the original models. That’s why we add it on the Anasounds and FX Teacher versions.
On the Anasounds version, a simple 2 positions switch allowing to go from the original scooped tone, to a boosted midrange tone.
On the FX Teacher, a 3 positions switch and a terminal block allowing to change components, to fine tune the midrange.
changing clipping over and over again
The concept behind FX Teacher is to provide customizable pedals with many parameters. So we added on the Full Story FX Teacher a clipping switch, allowing to change the compression and dynamics.
3 positions with different diodes, or no clipping at all, for a SAG effect, and a terminal block to experiment with different components and customize your pedal.
new tone cards
With these two new versions of the Full Story, 7 new Tone Cards are introduced.
3 of them have been developed by our team to be integrated and match perfectly with the new Full Story functions.
The 4 others have been developed in collaboration with other brands. You will find the ALH Effects Battersea, Pulse and Piggy in Tone Cards format, as well as a Tampco creation, with vintage gated fuzz tones.
We have also developed a Tone Cards kit with additional components to create your own sound. And of course, we can imagine developing even more versions in the future!
fuzz for bass players
That big fuzz / distortion is often used on bass, and we have not forgotten that for our version. The seven cards have been developed to offer the best possible response in the low-end without changing the original sound and playing feel on the guitar.
The Full Story works just as well with a bass or a guitar.
create your own custom sound at home
In addition to all the available Tone Cards, we also offer a kit version with many additional components. This Tone Cards is based on the model included in the Full Story FX Teacher and allows you to solder yourself the components you want to create a unique Tone Cards with your own sound.
Of course, we’ve created an article to explain how each component and value will influence the sound, so you can create the perfect Tone Card for your taste!

two channels and mids
We know you will want to switch versions without having to open the pedal, which is why the Anasounds Full Story has two spots to insert your Tone Cards. This allows you to get two fully independent channels, each with its own settings and footswitch
Another new feature, a Mid switch allows you to switch from the original voicing of the Tone Cards, to a version with boosted mids, for a totally different sound.
changing clipping over and over again
The Full Story FX Teacher has only one Tone Cards slot, but offers, in addition to the Mid switch, a second clipping switch, to change the compression and dynamics of the effect.
And always the terminal blocks to experiment with different components and customize your pedal!

this table shows the main differences between the 3 models.
our masterclasses
The Full Story is also available as a DIY kit version under the FX Teacher brand.
We also have developed a Tone Cards kit with additional components, which allows you to create your own circuit with a unique sound.
If you don’t feel like building the pedal alone,
or if you wanna learn everything about the mythical big fuzz and its circuits, and also about electronics and soldering, come to one of our masterclasses !
There will probably be one taking place not too far from your home. It’s like a great lecture, except you get to go home with a Full Story!
The first day will be focused on the assembly of the Full Story kit, and the second day on the design of two additional custom Tone Cards.
the tone cards
an upgradeable pedal
Our proprietary system with interchangeable cards has become the only viable way to reach the sound of the original pedals without building a Full Story that would take up seven spaces on your pedalboard!
We have spent a long time listening to original vintage pedals and we have selected the seven most exciting and musically interesting pedals, which we have used to create our circuits with the exact same sound,
by constantly comparing them to the originals.
The Tone Cards are not mere approximations: they are sonically identical to our favorite artists and albums.
After having spent a few months developing that proprietary format, It is very likely that we’re going to use it for future new and custom versions.
easily swappable cards
You would be forgiven for thinking electronic cards are fragile accessories.
Quite the opposite in fact: they are really solid, and we built them with robust connections to withstand even the most brutal card changes.
The card change is a very straightforward operation. Once the enclosure has been opened, you don’t need any tools, you just have to pull on the card to remove it. Then you can just connect another card.
For those who are used to plugging everything the wrong way around, we’ve thought about you! We’ve built the cards with keyed connection so they will always be aligned the right way.
the collector’s edition tone cards
The Tone Cards draw their inspiration from the best versions of our favorite fuzz / distortion.
In this article, you can read all about the history and the many iterations of this mythical pedal.
Inspired by the very first version of the famous fuzz / distortion, sold from 1969 to 1972. That version has bass in spades and softer highs, with a scooped but well-defined sound.
It is perfect for psychedelic seventies rock, a style for which it was massively used.
That second version has been used by many players on lyrical solos that have become legendary. It can easily be spotted with the ram’s head on the enclosure.
This is the version that has the longest sustain, with a round and warm tone and soft highs. It will work wonders with a single-coil guitar and a clean amp for piercings leads that will not hurt your eardrums.
That one has the raw sounds that can head on countless bands of the naughties. That card has the aggressive bright sound on the big fuzz’s latest version, for a modern sound that will get you noticed.
The sound is unsophisticated, perfect for rock, grunge and garage rock.
This version has a very different circuit than the other cards, based on op-amps rather than transistors.
The sound is less scooped in the mids, closer to distortion for palm-muted rock rhythm playing. It stacks very well with other saturations for that typical nineties rock sound.
This version has less gain with more mids and treble, and it is the closest one to an overdrive. Its sweet sound offers a big fat crunch, far from the grit of other versions.
This is a whole other story: that version has an unruly, shrieking sound that will make any garage rock guitarist happy, especially when plugged into an already crunchy amp.
That one has a little less bass than other versions, and a very straightforward attack, just like an old dirty vintage amp cranked up.
This is the last of the seven Tone Cards. That version is huge and loaded with bass. This is the ideal version for bass, and it has been used by many famous bass players. It will also work wonders for a low-tuned guitar, with a very heavy sound that stoner fans will love.
Tone Cards allow us to imagine many circuits and evolutions simply by creating new cards.
We might even create unique circuits that sound like no other pedal, and those cards will still be compatible with the Full Story.
the anasounds tone cards
With these two new Full Story pedals, we decided to create our own Tone Cards, according to our ideal of the well-known Disto/Fuzz.
So we took the existing versions reproduced in the collector’s edition and improved them to make them compatible with the new Full Story features.
our collaborations with other brands
To push the concept of Tone Cards even further, we asked two brands, ALH Effects and Tampco, to collaborate on Tone Cards that illustrate their personal interpretation of the fuzz.
You will find the Battersea, Pulse and Piggy from ALH Effects, and a Tone Bender inspiration by Tampco in Tone Cards format!

So we took the existing versions reproduced in the collector’s edition and improved them to make them compatible with the new Full Story features.
Based on the first version of the iconic disto/fuzz released from 1969-1972, this version provides a scooped sound and huge bass while remaining well defined.
We decided to make this version ideal for powerful rhythms and riffs by bringing back some mids and slightly lowering the bass, for even more precision and modernity.
A Tone Cards inspired by the first Russian blue and grey version from the early 90s.
We decided to cut the mids a bit more for a slightly less clear and more bassy sound. This is the version that will interact the best with the Mid switch of the new Full Story, completely changing its character to bring precision and clarity, ideal for leads.
This version is based on the most famous version, widely used in the 2000s.
With a bright and aggressive sound, it has been slightly redesigned to be compatible with all the features of the Full Story FX Teacher. Ideal for rock, grunge or even garage sounds, with a big sustain reserve, this is the most versatile version.
A Tone Cards in kit form, delivered with many additional components to create your own custom Tone Cards!
We’ve created an article to explain the role of each component, to design your own unique sounding circuit. Or you can come to a masterclass to be coached. A Tone Cards for DIYers or musicians with a specific need in mind.
our collaborations with other brands
To push the concept of Tone Cards even further, we asked two brands, ALH Effects and Tampco, to collaborate on Tone Cards that illustrate their personal interpretation of the fuzz.
You will find the Battersea, Pulse and Piggy from ALH Effects, and a Tone Bender inspiration by Tampco in Tone Cards format!
A faithful reproduction of the fuzz pedal used by David Gilmour on the Animals album, this version is based on the second version of the disto/fuzz, manufactured from 1973 to 1977.
The sound is rich and aggressive, with great clarity and sustain, ideal for hypnotic leads.
Still based on a version used by David Gilmour, but this time Russian, the Pulse offers a more modern sound and a nice dynamic.
With a creamier, overdrive-like sound, the Pulse is ideal for both rhythmic and lead tones, halfway between vintage and modern.
Based on a never released ALH Effects prototype, the Piggy is a version with a warm midrange and good clarity, designed to break through the mix in all situations. It offers an ideal distortion and fuzz sound, for a great versatility that will match many styles.
Having studied in details the circuits of all the versions of the Tone Bender, Tampco proposes a unique circuit mixing two universes, taking the best of the disto/fuzz to add a vintage and slightly velcro sound typical of the Tone Bender mk3.
